Are you about to visit San Diego and are looking to find all the best local, craft beer? Or are you a local looking to explore a new area and its craft beer scene? Either way, this directory will help you find ALL San Diego breweries by area.
Arguably one of the hippest, most walkable, and best beer areas in all of San Diego, you will want to visit North Park located (obviously) north of Balboa Park.
The surrounding Mid-City area has a few gems that are worth checking out and will likely offer you a less crowded, more laid back environment.

East Village
On the upswing, East Village’s craft beer scene is growing rapidly as the area becomes more and more popular. Located near the Gaslamp, you can basically enjoy a beer before a Padres game at any of these breweries!
For a more posh craft beer experience, swing by Little Italy, north of the proper “downtown” area. You’ll find it’s a bit fancier up here and really lively on weekend nights!

College Area
SDSU doesn’t just take shots and drink light beer. There is also a thriving craft beer scene for those of legal drinking age. You’ll find a lot of good stuff and maybe even some good deals on weeknights in the La Mesa area!
“I have a need…a need for beer”. Miramar anchors some of the biggest and most iconic breweries in the San Diego scene. A car is needed to get around to each one, but you’ll find this is a great place to do a San Diego brewery tour with out-of-towners!

What’s better and more San Diego than a craft beer by the ocean? I don’t need to convince you that heading to the beach and grabbing a beer at these places is good for your health and well-being!

Vista
Fun fact: Vista has more breweries per capita than ANYWHERE in the US. If you’re looking to hit a lot in a little time, look no further. You’ll definitely need a car to get around though.
My take on the San Marcos and surrounding areas’ beer scene is that it’s more country. With lakes and lots of horses, you’ll find that these breweries offer more rustic vibes and some awesome, easy drinking beer.
One of the fastest growing beer areas in both quality and volume, Carlsbad/Oceanside offers a unique blend of all of San Diego’s joys in a location that’s closer to Orange County and Los Angeles if you don’t want to head all the way down to San Diego proper.
